Heels are every fashion forward woman’s best friend and a wardrobe staple. All it takes is one pretty pair to totally transform your entire look, strut and stride. But they have also been given some bad rep with some ridiculous myths and misconceptions floating around about them. So, we will break down those misconceptions and tell it like it is once and for all:
1. Heels are only for short women
This has got to be one of the silliest reasons for not wearing high heels. You see women of all shapes and sizes wearing them. All those Amazonian supermodels you see strutting down the runway are no less than 5’9-5’11 in height. The only people who claim this myth to be true are those who are insecure about their own height. Besides, you don’t have to wear 6-inch heels every time. In fact, you can wear1-3-inch heels and still rock that look. Heels are not limited to petite ladies; tall ladies can enjoy them too.
2. I will trip and fall
No, you won’t, so let’s get that out of the way. As with anything, there is a technique to wearing and carrying fashion, and heels are no different. People can also trip and fall while wearing sneakers, it’s only the heels that are blamed though. You just have to become comfortable while wearing them and adjust your walk accordingly. Once you have gotten the hang of it, people will think you have been wearing them for ages.
3. They will harm my body
The biggest misconception about heels is that they will cause your calves to become bigger, you will get varicose veins and your knees will be affected. Again, people who don’t wear heels still get these problems but the gorgeous heels get the short end of the stick in this regard. The real reason for these problems is weight gain, arthritis or other health issues.
4. They look good on women with sexy legs/slim women
If anything, heels make legs look sexy in the first place, regardless of their shape and size. Women of all kinds of body types are rocking heels so you don’t have to worry about being a certain weight to be able march forth in those Louboutin’s or Manolo Blahniks. This era is all about body positivity so don’t let anybody tell you that heels are not your thing just because you are plus sized.
5. I can’t wear them past 50
Another misconception that we will gladly throw out the window is the “I’m too old to wear heels” belief that many women have. We do believe that one can be too young to wear them such as 12 or 13. But once you are older, there is no age limit for you to feeling stylish and trendy.
