How to take care of your feet after wearing heels all day

DIY Foot scrubs

Women love to pamper themselves and a good mani-pedi does just that. Many women don’t have time for a pedicure though and just go to the nail salon and get a quick manicure instead. They tend to forget about their feet and don’t consider it important to do a little something extra for them, even though they are desperately in need of some TLC.

If you don’t have the time to go to a salon, wait in line or wait for a specific appointment to get your feet pampered, why not save the time and money by giving your feet some extra pampering at home? Try these amazing DIY foot soaks and foot scrubs:

  1. Baking soda

Enter the household remedy for almost anything: Baking soda. Just when you thought you ran out of home remedies using baking soda; in comes a great DIY foot scrub. This is the simplest foot scrub/ foot soak you can have. Take a small tub of water; mix 4-6 tablespoons with ¾ cup of water. It will instantly form a bubbly paste like consistency. Scrub your feet with that mixture thoroughly with a foot scrubbing tool or pumice stone. Wipe the paste off and wash your feet.

  1. Coconut scrub

This foot scrub smells absolutely divine and leaves your feet feeling fresh and healed. It is perfect for dry and cracked heels and all the ingredients are organic. Take half a cup of sea salt (regular salt can suffice as well), 4-5 tablespoons of pure coconut oil and Lavender/lemon essential oil. The aroma of all these ingredients mixed together seems like you are on a tropical island. Scrub your feet with this mixture gently as the sea salt granules can be rough, wash it off with warm water and you are good to go.

  1. Listerine

Who knew the answer for dry and cracked heels would be your everyday mouthwash? This is a very easy yet powerful foot soak. Now we don’t recommend you to always use your mouthwash as a foot soak but it’s perfect for those days when you need a quick fix. Take a small tub, fill it half full and add 3-4 bottle caps of Listerine. Soak your feet in for about half an hour and that should be good enough for it to remove all the dead skin cells and cracked heels.

  1. Mint scrub

This is a foot scrub that can easily become one of your favorites. You will need a cup of sea salt, 6-10 drops of peppermint and tea tree oil each and 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix all the ingredients together and you will get one of the best exfoliating scrubs. The tea tree and peppermint oil work as antibacterial and anti-fungal agents while providing a good aroma, the olive oil provides moisture and healing to the cracked heels and the sea salt exfoliates all the dead skin cells off your feet.

All these foot scrubs are easy to make and use with minimum effort and ingredients, so you have no excuse for not giving your feet the care they require. In fact, after trying these scrubs, you will want to make the most of them on a regular basis.
